【概况】
上海中医药大学、上海市中医药研究院脾胃病研究所成立于2007年3月,是与龙华医院共建的校级研究机构,以提升中医药防治脾胃病的临床能力和研究水平为主要任务。研究所是国家重点学科-中医内科学的骨干研究方向、国家中医药管理局重点学科、上海市重中之重医学重点学科、上海市教委重点学科、上海市高峰学科创新团队建设部门、上海市高水平大学一流学科优先领域。研究所是“中国-加拿大消化病研究中心”的中方依托单位,是上海市炎癌转化病证生物学前沿科学研究中心的主要核心单位。
研究所由临床和实验室两部分组成。临床科室以胃肠病、慢性肝病、代谢性疾病为主攻方向,在非酒精性脂肪性肝病、溃疡性结肠炎、肠易激综合征、结直肠炎癌转化、肥胖等疾病治疗具有特色优势。实验室总面积1200平方米,是国家中医药管理局病理生理(脾胃)三级实验室,下设证候生物学、细胞与免疫、生物影像学、病理与免疫组化等多个实验平台。拥有激光共聚焦、高内涵成像分析系统、全功能微孔板检测仪、荧光定量PCR分析仪、流式细胞仪等大型特色仪器设备,在疾病证候分类、病理生理学和胃肠神经生理学技术方面形成优势。
研究所拥有正高职称专家8名,副高职称专家9名,5位专家任行业学会主任委员、副主任委员职务。创所所长、学科带头人季光教授是国家中医药管理局首届“岐黄学者”、教育部新世纪优秀人才、上海市领军人才和上海市优秀学科带头人,人社部授予国家有突出贡献中青年专家荣誉称号。所长徐汉辰教授是国家自然科学基金委优秀青年科学基金获得者,上海市青年拔尖人才、上海市青年科技启明星、上海青年科技35人引领计划、上海市青年东方学者,长期从事中医药防治消化系统疾病的临床与基础研究。研究所青年骨干中1人获得国家中医药管理局“青年岐黄学者”称号,1人入选上海市青年东方学者计划,1人入选上海市35人青年人才引领计划,2人获得上海市委组织部青年拔尖人才计划,4人获上海市卫生系统“银蛇奖”、6人入选上海市青年科技启明星和启明星跟踪计划、5人入选上海市优秀杏林新星和上海市优秀青年中医人才。
研究所先后承担国家863计划、国家重大科技专项、国家自然科学基金委国际合作重点项目、科技部国际合作项目,获国家自然科学基金资助50余项。在炎症性肠病、脂肪肝等代谢性疾病和结直肠炎癌转化等领域形成研究优势,研制了清肠栓、肠祺方、降脂颗粒、清肝活血颗粒、疏肝饮、胃祺饮等特色制剂,获得10余项国家发明专利,2个新药临床研究批件实现成果转化,发表SCI论文130余篇,他引1400余次,应邀为国际专业期刊撰写评论性文章5篇,产生一定国际学术影响。研究成果获得上海市科技进步一等奖、教育部科技进步一等奖、行业学会科学技术奖一等奖等24项科技奖励。
与美国MD Anderson癌症研究中心、布法罗大学消化病研究中心、印第安纳大学医学院、俄亥俄州立大学、休斯顿医学中心、夏威夷大学,加拿大渥太华大学,日本九州大学,香港浸会大学等境外研究机构建立了长期的合作关系。2015年与加拿大渥太华大学成立“中加消化病研究中心”,2023年6月,上海中医药大学再次与加拿大渥太华大学签署框架协议,全面开展包括“中加消化病研究中心”在内的科研、教学、人才培养等全面合作。

Our responsibilities
Institute of Digestive Diseases, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine/Shanghai Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine was established in March 2007. It is a school-level research institution jointly established with Longhua Hospital. Our major responsibility is to improve the clinical ability and scientific research of traditional Chinese medicine in preventing and treating gastrointestinal diseases. This research institute serves as a key component of the National Key Discipline - Internal Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It holds multiple prestigious designations, including:
l Key Discipline under the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine;
l Shanghai Municipal Priority Medical Discipline;
l Key Discipline by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission;
l Innovation Team under Shanghai's Peak Discipline Construction Initiative;
l Priority Area in Shanghai's High-Level University First-Class Discipline Development Program.
The institute serves as the designated Chinese partner in China-Canada Center of Research for Digestive Diseases and a foundational member of Shanghai Frontier Research Center of Disease and Syndrome Biology of Inflammatory Cancer Transformation.
The institute comprises both clinical and laboratory divisions. The clinical department specializes in gastrointestinal diseases, chronic liver disorders, and metabolic conditions, with distinctive clinical expertise in treating non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), colorectal inflammatory-cancer transformation, and obesity. The laboratory spans 1,200 m2 and is certified as a Grade III Pathophysiology Laboratory by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It houses multiple specialized research platforms including Syndrome Biology, Cell & Immunology, Bioimaging, and Pathology & Immunohistochemistry. The facility is equipped with advanced instruments such as laser confocal microscopes, high-content imaging analysis systems, multimode microplate readers, quantitative PCR systems, and flow cytometers, developing leading-edge capabilities in disease syndrome classification, pathophysiological research, and gastrointestinal neurophysiology technologies.
Our achievements
The institute has successively undertaken key national research programs including the National 863 Program, National Major Science and Technology Projects, NSFC International Cooperation Key Projects, and International Cooperation Programs, while securing over 50 grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. It has established distinctive research strengths in inflammatory bowel disease, metabolic disorders, and inflammatory-cancer transformation in colorectal diseases. The institute has developed specialized therapeutic formulations including Qingchang Suppository, Changqi Formula, Lipid-lowering Granules, Qinggan Huoxue Granules, Shugan Decoction, and Weiqi Decoction, resulting in more than 10 national invention patents and 2 investigational new drug (IND) approvals for clinical translation.
With 130+ SCI publications, the institute's faculty have authored 5 invited commentaries for international specialty journals, demonstrating growing global academic influence. These research achievements have been recognized with 24 prestigious awards, including: First Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award; First Prize of MOE Science and Technology Progress Award; First Prize of Professional Society Science and Technology Awards.
Our ongoing activities
Institute of Digestive Diseases has established long-term collaborative partnerships with MD Anderson Cancer Center, University at Buffalo Digestive Diseases Research Center, Indiana University School of Medicine, The Ohio State University, Houston Methodist Hospital, and University of Hawaii in the United States, University of Ottawa in Canada, Kyushu University in Japan, and Hong Kong Baptist University in China. In 2015 China-Canada Center of Research for Digestive Diseases in collaboration with the University of Ottawa was established. This partnership was further strengthened in June 2023 when Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the University of Ottawa signed a comprehensive framework agreement to expand cooperation across multiple domains, including joint research through the China-Canada Digestive Diseases Research Center, academic exchanges, and talent development programs.
Our staff
The institute has 8 full professors and 9 associate professors, including 5 experts serving as chairpersons or vice-chairpersons in professional academic societies. The founding director and discipline leader, Professor Ji Guang, has been honored with multiple prestigious titles: he is among the first batch of Qihuang Scholars recognized by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, an outstanding talent of Trans-Century Training Program Foundation for the Talents by the Ministry of Education, a leading talent and an outstanding academic leader in Shanghai. He has also been awarded the title of National Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. The current director, Professor Xu Hanchen, is a recipient of National Natural Science Foundation of China distinguished Young Scholar Fund. He has been recognized as a Shanghai Young Top-notch Talent, Shanghai Youth Science and Technology Rising Star, and selected for Shanghai Science Technology 35 Under 35 and Shanghai Young Oriental Scholar Program. Professor Xu has long been engaged in clinical and basic research on the prevention and treatment of digestive system diseases with traditional Chinese medicine.
Among the institute's young talents, 1 has been awarded the title of Young Qihuang Scholar, 1 has been selected for the Shanghai Young Oriental Scholar Program, 1 has been included in Shanghai Science Technology 35 Under 35 Program, 2 have received the Shanghai Young Top-notch Talent Program from the Shanghai Municipal Organization Department, 4 have been awarded the Silver Snake Award by Shanghai's health system, six have been selected for the Shanghai Youth Science and Technology Rising Star Program and its follow-up track, and 5 have been recognized as Shanghai Excellent Xinglin Rising Stars and Shanghai Outstanding Young TCM Talents.
